By first-time Indonesian director, Tiara Westlake, MAYA is a multi-cultural drama about homesickness, isolation and the struggle of finding your identity in a foreign place. This touching story is based on the Indonesian superstition that moments before a person is about to die, their soul is separated from their body to say one last goodbye. In 2019, Frank & Lively announced its intention to executive produce a minimum of four short films that celebrate unique female stories and are produced by a predominantly female crew. MAYA is the fourth film in this slate.
